I know what you are thinking… CBD combined with coffee? Seems like a very unusual or even contradictory blend.
As we mentioned in previous blog posts, CBD is often used for relaxation and better sleep, while coffee is consumed a lot of the times to get that needed wake up slap-in-the-face and to increase overall alertness. They are basically used for opposite reasons, and yet, research is showing that the duo can potentially be a complimentary pairing.
Interestingly, a study published in The Journal of Internal Medicine found that coffee and cannabis activate some of the same pathways in the brain – “The neurotransmitters related to the endocannabinoid system — the same ones affected by cannabis —decreased after drinking four to eight cups of coffee in a day. That’s the opposite of what occurs after someone uses cannabis.
Dr Bonni Goldstein, MD of Canna-Centers said – “It’s unclear at this point in time the exact interaction between CBD and caffeine,” she said. “At low doses, CBD is a stimulant and in higher doses it can cause sedation. Someone’s reaction to a combination of these compounds would not be easily predictable because various doses of each would affect the response.” Of course, research in this field is still very limited.
Some people don’t like using CBD oils, a few drops of which have to be held under the tongue for a few minutes, while others simply don’t like the taste that the oil leaves in their mouths.
This where you can consider adding it to your morning coffee. Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as just adding CBD oil drops to your morning beverage. Oil and water don’t mix.
I personally like to put a couple of drops with my grounded coffee before it’s brewed. CBD One also recommend taking water soluble CBD or powdered CBD, you can add any of them straight to your cup.
